The external treatment of the building is sympathetic to its context and refelects the colour palette of the architecture in the area.

The site is bounded by the Conservation Areas Smithfield Market and the Charterhouse Square. The colour tones of the ceramic glazes reflect the colour tones of the area opposite the Station's facades.

Result

The vertical terracotta framing elements of the facades feature colour on one side of the vertical fins. This provides a different reading to each elevation dependent on the direction from which the elevation is viewed. The building is under construction.
